Chicago Lakeside Development - Energy Efficiency

The Lakeside Idea, bridging from a brownfield industrial past to a green lifestyle future, from steel mill to innovation mill. The nearly 600-acre site is a blank canvas on which McCaffery Interests Inc. will paint a new community portrait of the Southeast lakefront, to which Lakeside will restore the surrounding neighborhoods’ way to an open green lakefront and job-creating economic transformation. Phase 2 focused on the design of future-focused holistic and sustainable infrastructure integrating water and energy conservation, stormwater reuse, waste reduction and recycling, renewable energy and digital connectivity.

An extremely energy efficient 6-story office building housing multiple United Nations agencies’ regional and global headquarters.
Includes, among other features; highly insulated envelope, smart exterior sunscreen, rainwater reuse, green roofs, seawater cooling, photovoltaic system, district heating, and intelligent building installations.
The owner's organization achieved the EU GreenBuilding 2012 Award based on this project.
The project achieved a LEED Platinum certification.

Shimizu Corporate HQ - LEED Consultancy
Tokyo, Japan

A 22-story office building in downtown Tokyo serving as the new headquarter for Shimizu Construction Corp.
Includes, among other features; rain and gray water reuse, dristrict heating and cooling, integrated photovoltaic system, and a green roof.
LEED Gold certification awarded by USGBC.
Also awarded the highest CASBEE level.

Brandeis Educational Campus - Energy Efficiency
New York, NY

Brandeis Educational Campus on the Upper West Side of Manhattan houses, among others, the Urban Assembly School for Green Careers. Krifcon participated in securing a NYSERDA grant as part of a comprehensive Green Master Plan for the entire campus.
A 46.8 kWp solar cell installation on the roof of the building to reduce energy consumption and serve as an integrated part of the School of Green Careers' curriculum.

A LEED Certified mixed-use development with two 25 story residential towers, theater space, and commercial space. A NYSERDA grant under the New Construction Program required a commissioning of newly installed micro-turbines as well as recommissioning of related energy efficient equipment.
